Born in Berlin

I grew up with a particular contradiction: home is supposed to give you stability, but Berlin was always changing. The Berlin Wall had fallen only eight years before I was born, and that sense of movement still shaped the city around me. Between its diversity, creativity, and the grounding presence of family, I learned early that identity can be rooted without being fixed.

Exchange in Indiana

School in the United States felt like stepping into the movies I had seen on TV. With red lockers, crowded hallways, yellow school buses, and the identity of being the international soccer player, I found myself in a world that felt both cinematic and deeply real. I had to find my place quickly in a culture that was new to me. Being away from home was challenging, but it was also the experience that first taught me independence and made me want to see more of the world.

Travelling Oceania

There's a version of being twenty where the world feels genuinely open. We found it — working whatever jobs came up, sleeping wherever made sense, making friends we'd never see again and somehow always moving on. Melbourne got under my skin more than anywhere. Two months in New Zealand too — wilder, quieter, stranger. But it was the smaller moments throughout — a book, a campfire, the coast — where something shifted. I came back knowing I wanted to study computer science. I didn't know why exactly. I just knew.

B.Sc. at Humboldt University

Humboldt University was the first place that asked more of me than I naturally had to give. I learned to meditate. I learned to study before the night before. Small things, but they changed everything — the way I approached problems, the way I showed up. The degree was in computer science. The education was in learning how to learn.

Erasmus in Vienna

Vienna during covid was a strange kind of lonely. A city made for wandering — art nouveau on every corner, the Alps an hour away — and most of it closed off. But the lockdowns carved out space I wouldn't have found otherwise. That's when I first got seriously into usability engineering and UX design. Something about being stuck made me reach for something new.

Frontend at Valsight

My first job as a frontend developer — at a startup founded by SAP alumni building scenario planning software for finance and strategy teams. Small company, real product, medium-sized team that worked hard and played hard. We flew to Palma and Warsaw for offsites. I worked remotely for the first time. It was my introduction to what building software professionally actually feels like — and I liked it.

M.Sc. Digital Innovation

Madrid was the first place I studied design properly — human-centered design, interface design across web, mobile, and native. The programme put the user at the centre of everything, and something about that clicked. But Madrid wasn't just a degree. It was long warm nights, the Spanish pace of life, a city that made you feel like time moved differently. I came back a better designer and a slower person — both good things.

M.Sc. Computer Science

Trento was where everything finally aligned. Cognitive science, decision making, human-computer interaction — the curriculum felt built for exactly the questions I'd been carrying. And then there were the mountains. Mountain lakes, hikes that cleared your head. I graduated with 110/110, the highest grade possible. But I'd have stayed anyway.
